Boat sloop Amigo on Amsterdam water

You can only truly discover Amsterdam from the water. The city has a rich history dating back to the 13th century and grew into a metropolis in the 17th century. To facilitate this growth, the canal belt was constructed; today it is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and remains the beating heart of the city. As you cruise through the canals, you’ll see a unique blend of historic buildings and modern influences. Our skippers not only guide you smoothly through the city, but also share the most fascinating stories along the way.

    Amsterdam’s city walls at night

During a cruise through the Amsterdam canals you quickly pass the Wallen, the famous Red Light District in the oldest part of the city, between the Warmoesstraat and the Zeedijk. Besides the red-light area there is much more to discover here, such as the impressive Oude Kerk. This route is perfect for history lovers who want to experience the rich city center from the water. Note: navigate clockwise due to one-way traffic on the Oudezijds Voorburgwal. Our skippers know the route like the back of their hand.

Want to experience Amsterdam in a different way? Choose the Plantage Route and cruise through the greenest part of the city. During this relaxing trip you pass highlights such as NEMO, the Maritime Museum, Artis and the Tropenmuseum. With all the water and greenery around you, it feels like you are leaving the hustle and bustle of the city behind. The perfect mix of nature and city life.

    Frequently Asked Questions

    What happens when it rains?

Fortunately, it rarely rains all day, so if it starts to rain during your Amsterdam boat tour, we will take shelter under a bridge. We also have umbrellas to protect us from the rain while we look for a bridge. In winter, we cover the boat with a roof. It is a transparent and clear roof that has been specially designed for the ultimate view and sightseeing experience. In dry weather, we can unzip the sides so that we still have an open boat cruise.

    Is smoking allowed on board?

No, for everyone’s health, smoking is not allowed on the boats.

    Which routes can we sail?

We have mapped out a number of enjoyable sailing routes for you. These include: the Plantation Route, the Architecture Route, the Berlageroute, the Red Light District Route, and the Culinary Route. You are not limited to these routes. Simply inform the skipper of what you would like to see, and he will take you to the most beautiful locations.

Is there a minimum number of people required on the boat?

We have different boat sizes for groups between 8 and 150 people. For groups smaller than 8 people, we recommend our individual tickets for a canal cruise.

If I request a quote, am I committed to it?

No, if you make a request, it is completely non-binding and free! Once you have received the quote, you can simply indicate whether you agree or not.
